USPORTS DECISION ON AGE LIMIT/ELIGIBILITY IN FOOTBALL
The issue:
On June 8, 2020 USports canceled 2020 Fall Championships due to COVID-19.
Following that decision the Canada West Universities Athletic Association, Ontario University Athletics, Atlantic University Sport, and the Canadian College Athletic Association each made the decision to cancel all fall semester sports.
U Sports has ruled it will not provide an exemption for football players who will turn 25 years old prior to the 2021 season, even though they’re missing the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19. Football is the only Canadian university sport that has an age cap.
